How can I keep my browser's header and footer from printing on forms such as the SBA 641?

By default, many browsers insert header and footer data into all pages that you print from the Web. This header and footer data typically consists of the site’s title and URL, the current date, and page numbers. While this data can be helpful when printing Web sites for content, WebCATS users often consider it a nuisance when printing forms or reports from WebCATS.

If you’d like to eliminate the header and footer data that prints on your WebCATS’ forms and reports, you can do so from within your browser’s settings, as described in the next set of steps.

Note: These new settings will apply to all documents printed from the Web, not just those printed from WebCATS. For this reason, you may want to record the default header and footer codes/settings before deleting them so that you can restore them later, if desired.

  1. From Internet Explorer and Firefox, select File|Page Setup. This opens the Page Setup window. For Firefox you will need to additionally open the Margins & Header/Footer tab. For Safari, go to File|Print.
  2. Record the codes or settings that are currently in the Header and Footer fields so that you may restore them later, if desired.
  3. Delete all codes/settings from the Header and Footer fields or change each one to Empty or Blank, depending on what is given. In Safari, you will need to select "Safari" in the bottom drop-down menu and uncheck the box Print headers and footers.
  4. Note: If your reports are being incorrectly formatted during printing, you can also change your browser’s margin settings from this window, as discussed here.

  5. Click OK.
